Biography
Felipe Gomide is a professional musician, cultural producer, teacher and researcher of tradicional brazilian cultural manifestations. With his focus on the study and promotion of the RABECA (brazilian fiddle) and the PÍFANO (tradicional brazilian flute), he founded in 2017, the Curso Livre de Rabeca (Free Course of Rabeca) and the Bloco de Pífanos de São Paulo (Carnival Block of Pífanos of São Paulo, two important colectives responsible for the revival and spreading of this instruments, with hundreds of participants throughout Brazil.
As a fiddle player, he founded and participated in important groups in the brazilian music scene, such as Xaxado Novo and Orkestra Bandida, in addition to providing musical direction for several concerts by Bloco de Pífanos de São Paulo and Orquestra Livre de Rabecas, and performing hundreds of shows on several of the most important stages and festivals in the country.
Working with musical and cultural production, he had the opportunity to record and produce albums by several traditional brazilian groups, such as "Fandango Família Neves" (2009), "Fandango no Araçauba" (2011) and "Mestre Zé Pereira - Rabeca Fandangueira" (2012), in addition to holding dozens of cultural workshops, composing soundtracks for films (Sertão Velho Cerrado - Netflix) and theaters.
From 2023 onwards, he also began launching his authorial project: Felipe Gomide and Forrobodó Oriental, creating a fusion Northeastern Brazilian regional music, with the sounds of Arab, Gypsy, Turkish and Persian peoples. This project features the participation of big names in Brazilian music, such as Carlos Malta, Janayna Pereira, Gabriel Levy and Guegué Medeiros.
