Orquestra Livre de Rabecas

Curso Livre de Rabeca

Open Brazilian Fiddle Course

With the aim of publicizing and promoting this magical instrument and its manifestations, the Free Rabeca Course began in May 2017, with free classes at the home of the fiddle player, Felipe Gomide.

In this process, several masters and artisans, researchers and interested parties, were connected, with intense cultural exchanges, concerts and presentations, also involving the promoting of the sales of fiddles built by masters and popular artisans, in different communities across the country. The course also gave rise to a YouTube channel with free fiddle classes throughout the country.

The Open Rabeca Fiddle Orchestra is the most important fruit of this process, bringing dozens of fiddles together, alongside percussions, harmonies, choirs and souzaphone, to reinterpret great masters and stalwarts of Brazilian Culture, as well as paying homage to the people and traditional cultures of the world that made the wealth of the musical history of humanity.

Among the project's missions is the connection and dissemination of the work of masters of popular culture, with several instrument construction workshops being held, in addition to meetings with various masters, stalwarts of Brazilian culture.
